protect New York's Consumers. Their Mission Statement:
The Consumer Protection Board, established in
1970 by the New York State Legislature, is the State's top
consumer watchdog and "think tank." The CPB's core
mission is to protect New Yorkers by publicizing unscrupulous
and questionable business practices and product recalls;
conducting investigations and hearings; enforcing the "Do
Not Call Law"; researching issues; developing
legislation; creating consumer education programs and
materials; responding to individual marketplace complaints by
securing voluntary agreements; and, representing the interests
of consumers before the Public Service Commission (PSC) and
other State and federal agencies.

YOU HAVE BEEN A VICTIM OR TARGET OF AN INTERNET SCAM?
FILE A COMPLAINT WITH IC3.GOV.
Often local police agencies do
not have the tools or resources to investigate certain
internet crimes which often span state and international
borders.
The Internet Crime Complaint
Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National
White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau
of Justice Assistance (BJA).
IC3's mission is to serve as a
vehicle to receive, develop, and refer criminal complaints
regarding the rapidly expanding arena of cyber crime. The IC3
gives the victims of cyber crime a convenient and easy-to-use
reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of suspected
criminal or civil violations. For law enforcement and
regulatory agencies at the federal, state, local and
international level, IC3 provides a central referral mechanism
for complaints involving Internet related crimes.
